Meet our 2023 Scholarship Recipients

My name is Nneoma Meremikwu and I am currently a sophomore at UC San Diego, majoring in Human Biology. I am enjoying the stem classes that I have taken in preparation for my upper division courses. Currently I am on my general board for Black Pre-Med Society, which focuses on the advancement, inclusion, and retention of all pre-health students of all the black diaspora by providing resources, community, and guidance. I am also applying for summer internships that will allow me to gain medical experience and expand upon my interest in the field of medicine. My long-term goal is to become a physician and help provide affordable healthcare to the black diaspora as well as contribute to closing the racial gap that’s prevalent in the medical field. I am sincerely grateful to SCE and CAAEC for helping me reach my goals.

Mark-Anthony believes criminology plays a vital role in the equitable and just treatment within the African American community. His goal is to influence and impact positive change and equitable experiences for African Americans involved with the criminal justice system.
